Canyons Church is a faith-filled community in San Diego, committed to helping people find and follow Jesus.
We exist to help people find and follow Jesus.
Our mission goes beyond our walls: we support and help revitalize other churches, extend our love and faith to every generation, and embrace values that embody authentic love, audacious faith, transformational generosity, and selfless multiplication. By nurturing the next generation, we ensure that our impact doesn't stop with us but create a legacy of faith that spans beyond today.
Our Core Values
We will love with undeniable authenticity toward those inside and outside of our church. In a hurting and superficial world, the greatest evidence for Jesus is an impartial and unconditional commitment to others.
We act with a bold faith knowing it's not about the size of our challenge but the size or our God. Even when we don't see the path ahead; we have a confidence that God will never lead us where He doesn't want us to go.
Our greatest legacy will not be in what we build today but in what we hand to our children's children. We will do anything short of sin to see the next generation follow Jesus.
For god so loved the world that he gave and that changed everything. We give knowing it not only changes others but ourselves.
We believe in identifying and developing future world changers because we were called to go and make, not go and maintain. We will make a difference, not for personal gain or recognition, but for the love of people.
A Heart for Faith and Community
Matt and Jenn believe that faith and church can be accessible to everyone regardless of their background. This is the heart of Canyons Church. A church should be a place where you are welcomed, loved, and encouraged. Faith should be a comfort during hard times and the catalyst for hope that tomorrow can be better than today. They have both dedicated their lives to sharing this message and that your life is better when you find and follow Jesus. Matt has been on staff at churches since he was 21. During that time he has served in the roles of Campus Pastor, Executive Pastor, Spiritual Growth, and several other capacities as well.
Building a Church That Makes a Difference
Matt loves “the science” behind the church and understanding what methodologies, philosophies, and systems of the church are engineered to produce. He is an avid reader who wants to craft an approach to church that produces a real difference in people, but is also approachable to the average person. Matt and Jenn both want to create a culture of serious faith that is counterbalanced by a lot of fun.
A Family Committed to Canyons Church
Matt and Jenn were married in 2013 in La Jolla and have lived up and down the Southern California coast before returning home to San Diego. Their intention is to be at Canyons until retirement. They also have three children: Katherine (b. 2017), Elizabeth (b. 2018), and Timothy (b. 2021).
